Spanish Voices
Voces Españolas
The richness and variety of the Spanish speaking world provides the link for a project which brings together young people from Guatemala, Spain, Western Sahara and the United Kingdom in an exploration of their own and each other's cultures.
This project, uses as a framework the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This three year European Union funded project is co-ordinated by the Humanities Education Centre in London, with support from Tower Hamlets Local Education Authority.
- To promote an awareness of development and environmental issues and the relationships between the 'South' and the 'North'.
- To provide young people with an opportunity to develop the skills, attitudes and values needed to examine the causes and consequences of fine quality, so enabling them to take control of their lives and make choices in their relations with other people.
- To enable young people to create powerful images and statements about their own lives and communities in a variety of ways.
- To help young people to gain confidence in speaking another European language.
- To
introduce young people to the appropriate use of the technologies.
